Fire extinguishers must be maintained on a regular basis to ensure their proper operation. You, the owner or occupant of the property where fire extinguishers are located, are responsible for arranging your fire extinguisher maintenance.

Fire extinguishers must be given a quick check every 30 days to see if it is in the correct location, and secured on a bracket or hanger intended for the extinguisher (not sitting on the floor). You must check the gauge to make sure it is fully charged, ensure the pullpin is installed with a breakaway tiewrap securing it in place, and that the extinguisher is not obstructed from plain view.
